Some more lip color documentation photos.  I can't believe how many pink spots are coming in where I thought he was going to be all black.

March 17, 2018

Lyle visited Independence Oaks today.  I hadn't realized there would be snow there, since there is none at my house and I wrongly assumed the snow from a week and a half ago would be gone in the places it did snow.  Lyle was so excited to plow through it, he started out right at the nature center before we even got on the trails (first photo).

Lyle visited Lyon Oaks today.  Although there is not a bit of snow at my house, Lyon Oaks had about 4 inches in many areas.  Lyle had a blast plowing through it and just laying down in it.

Here are a lot of close-ups of Lyle looking at Spikeball.  I am documenting his changing lip colors.  The black parts are getting new pink spots that are rapidly spreading out.

The pink markings on the top of his nose look like the letters, T and J.

March 4, 2018

Lyle visited Deerfield Hills Nature Area today.  He was very happy that some trails still had some snow that he could plow his face through.

He seemed excited to get up to the observation deck and got comfortable very quickly, after eating some snow, of course.

He was looking so photogenic, I took off his gentle leader to get some nicer photos.

Here he is in the field area bordering the woods.

The boardwalk trail to the old cement steps turned out to have really nice lighting this afternoon.  The abundant beech trees that keep their leaves all winter helped add to the beauty of this area in the sunlight.  Lyle enjoyed the heavy leaf litter in this area, kicking it up with his hind legs.

The last trail of the day to the overlook by the willow tree was still full of snow.  Lyle had a blast pushing himself through it nose-first many times along the way.

When we got back to the lot, he immediately went to the only nearby snow pile and laid down!

February 24, 2018

Lyle visited the Eddy Discovery Center trails at Waterloo State Park today.  He loved rolling around in the leaves near the 1776 Beech tree and anywhere else there was heavy leaf litter.

Here he is by the tiny pine.

Digging and posing on/near a natural bench.

Lyle was so excited that there was snow left from plowing the lot.  He climbed right up on the piles and ate some.  At the end of the hike, he just wanted to lay on top!

Just lounging around on his blankets with Spikeball.

February 19, 2018

I got a lemon out of the refrigerator today and Lyle seemed to think it was a ball of some sort.  I let him take it into the family room where I recorded this funny video of him trying to play with it.

February 9, 2018

The video below shows Lyle playing in the snow.  At 0:59, he bounds through the snow in a 6 foot leap!

Here is another video of him really having a great time with his rope.

Here he is cuddled up in his blanket.

These photos are to document the changes to the pink areas on his upper and lower lips.  He is staring at Spikeball during the photos.

February 4, 2018

It has been a while since Lyle has been able to play with his rope.  He was very excited that the weather conditions permitted it today.

January 28, 2018

Lyle had a great time at Lyon Oaks today.  There was only one small area that still had a good patch of snow.  The snow in Lyle's yard has been melted for several days now.  Lyle plowed right in, rolled around and laid down like he was in heaven.  He also had a lot of fun rolling in leaves.

Lyle loves to scratch up the ground with his back feet, but he knows he's not supposed to do that in his yard.  He was so excited to get a few scratches in at the park.  You can see how happy he is doing it in the first photo below.

January 26, 2018

Late this evening (actually the 27th), while Lyle was resting in his bed, I set up his new playtime rug.  Then I let him out and we played with Spikeball.  I discovered right away that the camera takes better photos of him on the new rug.  The other one was too light in color, and Lyle always came out too dark.  There are some unusual photos in this batch because I tried to take action shots of him catching the ball.  He is so fast that many appear as if he doesn't have any ears.  There are also some funny ones of him waiting for me to throw the ball.

January 20, 2018

Finally, Lyle got to go hiking again.  It's been too cold for nearly a month.  Today, it reached 41 degrees, although there was still a lot of snow on the ground.  Lyle enjoyed his time at Deerfield Hills Nature Area and dove into and rolled in many patches of pristine snow.  He seemed very happy to be out there.

He was tired this evening.

January 10, 2018

Lyle is not in these photos, but it is a funny memory I wanted to document.  A couple days ago, my dad shoveled my snow before I had woken up.  For some reason, Lyle didn't hear him out there and slept right through it.  My dad decided to make a little snowman at the corner of the sidewalk, visible from the front door.  When Lyle and I got up, Lyle looked outside and barked at the snowman for about a minute!  When I went out to get the mail, I patted the snowman on the head and said he was a good boy, and that got Lyle started up again too.  It was pretty funny.

December 28, 2017

Just before midnight, resting with Spikeball.

Even later, doing the same.

December 27, 2017

Only about 5pm, but Lyle was sleeping on the floor, so I wrapped him up.

Later that evening, I wrapped him up on his chair.

Here, he has set Spikeball on the stepstool that I was using to clean up the mantel.

December 26, 2017

Early evening.  He was sleeping on the floor, so I wrapped him up in his new blanket.

December 25, 2017

Lyle's birthday shoot.  These were taken at night after his birthday celebration on the 24th (early morning of the 25th).  He received the soft, blue blanket he's sitting on from my parents.

This set was taken the afternoon after his birthday in the daylight.

Later this evening, Lyle received his Mr. Donut toy from Brian, which he enjoyed flipping around.

Much later, actually the morning of the 26th, Lyle is sleeping in his chair on another new blanket.

December 24, 2017

Part of Lyle's birthday treat.  My parents made beef rib roast.  He not only got to lick the cutting board (as pictured below), but had pieces of meat topping off his food today.

Later this evening, he was pretty tired, but he enjoyed being covered up in his new blanket.
