December 23, 2018

Waterloo, Eddy Discovery Center trails.

Sniffing the air upon arrival, checking out the 1776 Beech Tree.

Kicking up leaves.  On the boardwalk.

By the tiny white pine.  Heading to the bog.

On the Oakwoods Trail.  The sun came out for a brief moment.  He made a few funny expressions as I mentioned words that were not relevant to the current circumstances and he wondered why I was bringing them up.

At the overlook by the bench along the Waterloo-Pinckney Trail.

Lyle patiently waited all day to do one of his favorite activities, rolling around.  It was about 15 minutes after sunset when he finally decided it would be all right.

December 15, 2018

Proud Lake State Park.  It was only about 37 degrees, so Lyle wore his coat.

Here he is by the decorated pine tree and the Kooky Tree.

I think this might be the same hill he played on last week.

The field with the fallen oak and the nearby yellow birch.

By the rock.  All day, he refrained from rolling around because the trails were mucky, but he couldn't hold it in any longer.

Down by the pond at sunset.  The last boardwalk.

December 9, 2018

Proud Lake State Park.  It was only about 31 degrees, but Lyle was comfortable in his coat.  He enjoyed eating the snow on the boardwalks and observation deck.

He still enjoyed kicking at the leaves with his hind legs, even though they were pretty crunchy and stuck together.  In the last photo of this set, I asked him to "look over here."

Of course, he rolled around.

Next to the "Kooky Tree."

Lyle found a nice little hill to roll down several times.

The yellow birch tree and corn field.

Picnic area by the river.

Back at the main pond.  Just today, someone decorated this tree with ornaments.  It was not like this when we passed by earlier today.  I'm pretty sure Lyle thought the white one near the bottom was a ball because he went right up to it to check it out.

My favorite rock.  The boardwalk near the lot.

November 30, 2018

In front of the holiday tree.

November 29, 2018

Focused on Spikeball.

Action shots catching Spikeball.  He caught all of these.

Some close-ups to show Lyle's changing face.  The large pink blotch on the left side of his nose is slowly disappearing.

November 27, 2018

Tucked in.

November 24, 2018

Lyle often wraps himself up in a blanket while playing ball by himself.

November 22, 2018

I was testing out the Christmas lights.  Lyle found it so boring he fell asleep next to one of the flashing strings!

November 21, 2018

In his chair with Spikeball.

November 18, 2018

Proud Lake State Park.  Lyle was glad some areas had snow, although a lot of the trails were pretty mucky from recently melted snow.

In the second photo below, he is enjoying mouthfuls of clean snow.

I asked him to go and see what was in that hole.  Surprisingly, he obliged.

Later in the hike, he seemed chilly, so I put his coat on.  Fortunately, he never rolls in muddy areas.  He does roll on hard, uncomfortable, clean surfaces though, such as the observation deck.

November 12, 2018

Pinckney State Park.  Lyle couldn't wait to scratch up the ground.

He wore his coat for the rest of the day, which seemed to calm him down.

At the end of the hike, I took off his coat for some photos at "Moss Paradise."  All he wanted to do was roll in the soft moss, but I had to stop him so he wouldn't tear it up.  I moved him over to some heavy leaf fall, which he also enjoyed, but he was moving so quickly that most of the photos didn't turn out.

November 3, 2018

Huron Meadows Metropark.

It was only a little over 40 degrees today, so I put Lyle's new coat on him.  He really seemed to enjoy having it on.

October 28, 2018

Some close-ups of Lyle's pigment changes.  The pink spot on his nose is turning black again.  The pink speckles on the bottom of his nose are almost all filled back in with black too.  There are a few new black spots on his lower lip and on his feet as well.  Of course, he was looking at Spikeball in my hand for all the photos.

October 23, 2018

Lyle's new hedgehog toy.

October 21, 2018

Oakwoods Metropark.  There were a lot of airplanes today, so there are several photos of Lyle looking up at them.

The log I like to photograph Lyle on was really decomposing, but there was a colorful maple across the river.

I never noticed this sycamore with a big hole at the bottom until today.  I tried to get Lyle to sit inside, but he didn't want to go all the way in.

October 13, 2018

Proud Lake.

I always tell Lyle the night before what the name of the park is that we will be going to.  Then I tell him some more as we're getting ready to leave, and again a few times when we get there.  He seemed to be enjoying himself in the above photo shoot, so I asked him if he liked Proud Lake.  He turned right around and looked at me and gave me the funny face below.

October 9, 2018

Lounging in his bed at two different times during the evening.  It is kind of unusual that he sometimes chooses to lay on the hard plastic in the front of his cage, rather than the soft bedding.

October 7, 2018

Rose Oaks.  It was a cloudy day following a lot of rain.  This was the only dirt dry enough to roll in.  Fortunately, he didn't roll anywhere else today except grassy areas.

Here, he is awaiting the approach of a man.

Scratching up the ground.

On the boardwalk and by my favorite oak.

Lyle awaiting the approach of a couple with a child.  Enjoying the field trail.

You might think Lyle rested here for a while for this shoot, but it was only about a minute and a half.  His face rapidly changes expressions.

Enjoying the trails and grassy areas on the sides.

At the picnic table overlooking the lake.

The stone fireplace area.

The southern trails.

September 29, 2018

Independence Oaks.

September 22, 2018

Deerfield Hills.

September 15, 2018

Waterloo, Eddy Discovery Center.

Rolling in the dirt.

By the 1776 Beech tree.

The third photo in the row below is pretty comical.  His mouth was all dirty from rolling around.  I called his name and he gave me the funniest look, as if he thought he might be in trouble.

When it was time to leave, he laid down by the grass near the car and didn't want to get up.

Here he is laying around later this evening.

August 21, 2018

I thought I could leave the groceries in their bags on the floor while I went for my walk, but that was a bad idea.  I came home to this...

August 20, 2018

I planned to take more photos of Lyle in the yard, but it was too cloudy and I wasn't going to be able to take sharp action shots, so there is just this one photo.

August 19, 2018

Some shots of Lyle playing in the backyard.

Indoor photos with the flash, showing the changing pigmentation on Lyle's nose and face.  He also has a new, small white fur patch above his upper left lip on the side of his face.

August 17, 2018

Spikeball ended up in the toilet after an intense soccer game.  Lyle was not too happy---he doesn't think he can get it out of there.

August 12, 2018

Playing with his indoor rope.

August 2, 2018

Sleeping in the family room with his blankets.  He put his fox stuffed toy there, not me.

August 1, 2018

Here are a few outdoor close-ups showing Lyle's changing pigmentation on his nose.  It was a hot day and he was panting.

July 27, 2018

Sleeping on his blankets in the family room.

July 22, 2018

Waterloo, Eddy Discovery Center.

Exploring near the 1776 Beech and smelling lots of plants along the trail.

Digging and rolling in the dirt.

By my favorite tiny white pine, waiting for me to pick blueberries, and sitting on the trail.

July 19, 2018

Looking out the front of the house, as he often does.

July 1, 2018

Not only are Lyle's lips changing color, but now his nose has multiple pink areas forming.
